popis: The concept of risk deeply permeates our daily life, playing a fundamental role in most human activities. Broadly speaking, progress always involves risks, risks that are often worth being taken but not before having been carefully considered. This constitutes a key point of any business field, whose focal points are unarguably human resources. People contributing to core decision-making processes with their know-how and capabilities can have a tremendous influence in making business successful. Enterprise risk management [1] has to be undertaken and tailored to any specific sector of activity to maximise safety and security for human resources, as a primary objective, but also to optimise activity outcomes in terms of productivity, quality and cost effectiveness. The utmost importance of risk-oriented management is then clear. However, still in the modern era, enterprises experience some practical difficulties when it comes to integrate innovative perspectives about risk within their own strategies and business models. In line with the philosophy of continuous improvement, risk management practices need to be continuously renovated to promptly respond to the many and varied challenges of our competitive world. Moreover, a strong degree of interaction exists among risk contributing factors, and they cannot be considered as independent to each other [3]. Due to these reasons, this work proposes a multi-criteria decision-making approach aimed at analysing the influence of relevant human factors on major industrial risks. The main goal consists in developing a theoretically rigorous but practically smart framework in such a field of utmost importance as risk management in the industrial business sector. The DEMATEL technique [3] will be applied to a real-world case study by considering the crucial role played by human resources towards performance optimisation.
