The Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, CTU in Prague, is one of the oldest departments of the faculty. For more than 70 years, it has contributed to the education of specialists in engineering and natural sciences. The department has long been associated with rigorous mathematical training, a systematic approach to teaching, and a strong emphasis on deep understanding of the discipline.
The Department of Mathematics provides instruction for more than 500 students enrolled in four Bachelor's programmes, five Master's programmes, and one Doctoral programme. The department consists of more than 20 academic staff members, together with other specialists involved in research projects.
The department hosts four research groups focusing on applied mathematics, mathematical physics, mathematical modelling, and theoretical computer science. Their research encompasses data analysis, modelling of complex phenomena, and the study of abstract mathematical structures with applications in computer science and physics.
The Department of Mathematics maintains long-term collaborations with leading research institutes, universities, and technology companies in the Czech Republic and abroad.
