Master's Studies

Master’s studies at the Department of Mathematics provide advanced education in mathematics, computer science, and their applications. The programme is designed to foster an independent and creative approach to solving challenging theoretical and practical problems and to develop the ability to apply modern mathematical, statistical, and computational methods.

Students deepen the knowledge acquired during their bachelor’s studies and explore advanced areas of mathematics and computer science, including algebra, functional analysis, numerical mathematics, probability theory, mathematical statistics, discrete mathematics, and theoretical computer science. All study programmes place strong emphasis on practical applications and on solving problems arising in science, engineering, and professional practice.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, tutorials, seminars, and individual consultations. The programme concludes with the State Final Examination, which includes the defence of a master’s thesis. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the academic degree Ing. (equivalent to a Master’s degree).

The Department of Mathematics currently provides instruction within five master’s degree programmes.
