Bachelor's Studies

Bachelor’s studies at the Department of Mathematics provide a high-quality education in mathematics, computer science, and their applications. The programme is designed to develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply modern mathematical and computational methods in practice.

During their studies, students acquire a solid foundation in mathematical analysis, linear algebra, programming, numerical methods, probability theory, and mathematical statistics. The curriculum also covers additional mathematical disciplines, including algebra, functional analysis, and ordinary and partial differential equations. This common core is complemented by specialised courses corresponding to the chosen study programme or specialisation, allowing students to focus on areas that match their interests and future career goals.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, tutorials, seminars, practical classes, and individual consultations. Students earn course credits and complete examinations in accordance with the study plan. The programme concludes with the State Final Examination, which includes the defence of a bachelor’s thesis. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the degree of Bachelor (Bc.) and may continue their studies in a follow-up master’s programme.

The Department of Mathematics provides instruction within four bachelor’s degree programmes.
